Cakes, CUpcakes, & Treats, oh my!

CAN YOU DELIVER MY CAKE/TREATS TABLE AND SET IT UP FOR ME?

I will provide a custom delivery/set-up quote for wedding/tiered cakes or large bakery orders. This will include travel and set-up time (if required) and requires a contract to be signed by both parties. 

DO YOU DELIVER TREATS WITHIN OTTAWA?

At the present time I do not offer delivery service for treats. All treat orders placed are for pick up only. All pickups will require an area within your vehicle that has a flat bottom for any items to sit within your vehicle. During warm and summer months, air conditioning will be required for the proper temperature of your items. 

DO YOU DELIVER CAKES WITHIN OTTAWA?

Yes we do. For an additional fee we will deliver cakes within the Ottawa area.

HOW DO I PLACE AN ORDER FOR MACARONS, COOKIE SANDWICHES, CUPCAKES AND OTHER BAKERY TREATS?

You can now purchase online for pick up at our location in Stittsville If you’re looking to place an order for customized treats, please send an email to luv@buttercreamandcrumbs.com and include the treats you are looking for, the quantity you’d prefer, flavours and the date you’d like your order to be for as well as a phone number. Some items require a minimum quantity for customization of colour or flavour and I will be happy to provide you with the best options based on the information you provide.

HOW DO I ORDER A CAKE?

You can now place your cake order on our website right HERE! You can place your order for our Studio Cakes, cupcakes, and certain treats! If you’re looking for something a bit more custom, including fondant work or wedding cakes, send an email to luv@buttercreamandcrumbs.com and include the date you’d like your cake for, the number of guests you’d like it to serve, the flavour you’d like, and I will get back to you within 48 hours. 

CAN I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A TASTING? IS THERE A FEE?

At the present time there is no tasting locations available. This may change in the near future. We do however, offer a in-your-home tasting if you wish, by mailing you a selection of chosen cakes for you to sample for a fee.

DO YOU SHIP TREATS OR GIFT ITEMS?

I’M PICKING UP MY CAKE AND WANT TO BE SURE IT ARRIVES SAFELY TO MY DESTINATION. WHAT ARE YOUR BEST TIPS/SUGGESTIONS?

I want your cake to make it to your destination in perfect condition. There are a few things you can do to keep your cake safe as you transport it from my studio to your celebration:
• The safest place for your cake is on the floor area of your vehicle. This is an even, flat space with minimal room for the cake box to slide around. The car should be cool temperature so you have a higher chance of keeping your cake nice a cool, and preventing slipping. Please avoid putting your cake in your trunk, on a seat or on someone’s lap.
• It’s ideal to have air conditioning that works well to keep your car and cake nice and cool. Your cake is beautiful, and we want it to stay lovely from the time you leave our shop to the time it arrives at its destination.
• Buttercream is made with butter, which can soften up as it gets warm. A vehicle with air conditioning that works well will help keep your buttercream cool and prevent it from softening and beginning to melt. Buttercream that is too warm from being in a hot car can slip and slide from bumps, potholes, quick stops, and sharp turns.
• Drive carefully as your cake is special cargo. Take turns slower than you usually would and avoid bumps and potholes as much as possible.
• If you are transporting your cake to a destination that is further than 30-45 minutes away, please let us know so we can take special care to have your cake nice and chilled when you pick it up.

CAN I ORDER A CAKE OTHER THAN A WEDDING CAKE?

Of course. A selection of cakes is available on the web site.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY for custom bakes?

1. Your initial deposit of 50% reserves your event date and is non-refundable.
2. We must receive the balance by the due date indicated or the contract is null and void, and deposit will not be refunded.
3. The date of your final payment is required 14 days prior to pick up or delivery. If ordering custom cakes terms are different.
4. The final date for any changes of size, style or flavors of your order is required one month prior to due date by email or text. Any changes requested after this date cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to additional charges.
5. You may cancel at any time prior to your initial deposit. If you choose to cancel after that date, you will forfeit your deposit.

IS THERE ANY OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION I SHOULD KNOW?

5. Delivery charges and setup is depending on the location of the venue and will be stipulated in the final price.
6. We are not responsible for any damage to the cake or confections after setup is complete. You are responsible for providing an appropriate and secure table and environment for the cake(s). Cakes and confections are heavy and require a sturdy table, and optimal room temperature of 21 degrees Celsius or below.
7. If you or your representative elects to pick up and set up the cake and or confections, you assume all liability and responsibility for the condition of the cake and or confections once it leaves our possession.
8. If flowers are provided by an outside source, we will place them for an additional fee on your cake or confections. You acknowledge that fresh flowers are not a food product, and may contain pesticides, insects, dirt, or other contaminants. We do not set up the florals as table arrangements.
9. On occasion we will photograph our cakes and we reserve the right to use any photographs for display or promotion or media without compensation to you.
10. Our products may contain or come into contact with milk, wheat, nuts, peanuts, soy, and other allergens. You agree to notify your guests of this risk and hold us harmless for allergic reactions.
11. Performance of this agreement is contingent upon our ability to complete the Agreement and is subject to labour disputes or strikes, accidents, Acts of God, and other causes beyond our control.

DO YOU SHIP CUSTOM MACARONS FOR SPECIAL EVENTS?

I love to cater for special events, large or small! Get in touch for a custom quote. Please include date, shipping address, order quantity, etc. in your email to luv@buttercreamandcrumbs.com and I will confirm whether or not I can accommodate your order.

do you have a store front?  

No we do not. We are a private in-home studio, not open to the public,  in the quaint village of Stittsville, which is a part of  greater Ottawa Ontario. 

ARE YOUR MACARONS GLUTEN FREE?

Most of our macaron flavours are gluten FRIENDLY, but none of our macarons are gluten FREE because the fillings may contain gluten. We cannot be held responsible for allergic outbreaks.

HOW MUCH OF YOUR GUEST LIST SHOULD YOU PLAN TO FEED WITH YOUR CAKE/SWEET TREATS AT A LARGE EVENT LIKE A WEDDING?

I typically suggest ordering enough servings for 70-80% of your guests, as not everyone will take a piece of cake. If you’re going with cupcakes or other goodies, you will want to have over 100%, as more people are inclined to grab a couple of cupcakes or one of each type of dessert.

HOW FAR ADVANCE DO YOU BOOK FOR WEDDINGS AND OTHER LARGE SPECIAL EVENTS?

Weddings can be booked up to a year in advance! I usually recommend booking at least 4-6 months before weddings, as the wedding season typically books up very quickly and I can only take so many events each weekend. For custom cakes for special events, 2 months is always a good amount of time, although if you have a last-minute request I will definitely try to make it work! For 1-tiered signature cakes, 2 weeks is the typical time requirement.

I JUST WANT A SIMPLE CAKE! HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK MY CAKE?

I typically require 2-3 weeks notice to book a custom cake. The earlier the better, but I will always try my best to accommodate last minute requests!

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

Because I am a one-woman operation, my working hours vary.  Please leave a message,  I will get back to you within  72  hours during the week days.

What is your return policy?

I always suggest booking your date for your cake as soon as possible,  before your date is taken.  Prime times go fast and I only allow a select number of cakes and treats are made  each week.
